Fall Break

So, Roger, four days without a post…what have you been up to?

Good question. My first response would be “nothing”. The University of Maine just had fall break on Monday and Tuesday and I would say I accomplished not a single thing. This might not be entirely true, however.

Saturday: Lazy day. At night we invited some friends over after prayer time at church. We were planning on inviting two people, and we ended up with five. Sometimes that’s the way life works.

I bought my wife a “family fryer”, a deep fryer, for our anniversary. (Fourth year anniversary, Old Time gift would be linen, Modern gift is electrical appliance. I found that in our Everything Wedding Book*. I couldn’t think of a good linen gift, but I knew she wanted the fryer pretty badly.) She’s been frying everything since. This will definitely negate any fitness I may have hoped to gain from the gym. My only hope now is that I will be solid steel underneath my multiple layers of fat.

How come I can never seem to stay on topic…?

Saturday it was time to try to make doughboys in the fryer. It worked great! I think I could have doughboys for every meal. We played a few rounds of Express Yourself and then we played Cranium (they guys won…barely). We were up quite late, which was a little sad since our guests had to teach Sunday School early the next morning.

Sunday: Church and nap. Good old reliable Sunday…

Monday: I did some housecleaning, reading, and then went to work. After work we did a little grocery shopping.

Tuesday: I had my 6 month dentist appointment at 7:30 (nice for a day off, huh?) and then swung by to visit my old workplace (hey, free medicine samples!). I visited my wife at her work, went to the bank, and then to Wal*Mart to purchase the new Caedmon’s Call CD–Share the Well. I then proceeded to go home and listen to the CD twice, then read and get ready for work. The CD is so awesome that I will surely post some kind of review shortly.

*PS. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting married.

That’s it. That’s my whole Fall Break full of nothing. Sounded enjoyable, yes?

I expected to hear that you bought 20 cases of Twinkies in a failed attempt to keep the Twinkie company alive and running..
