Then you look for quality over quantity or think there is a point where the two can equal each other (say 45 minutes of quality = 60 min of quantity)?

mmm... depends on the genre
Tool have 13 tracks, but only 7 are actual songs, but still total 60 min.
Live will have 13 songs, but totals only 45 min.
But tool are weird, tribal, atmospheric musicians that make each song almost half an album itself.
Live put as many catchy bits as possible, never repeating anything, so great songs are only 2:30.....

If only it were that easy :) Personally, I like ten songs that are 60+ minutes of music. I love long songs.

Then don't release your CD with only ten good songs. Ten songs is not enough. I feel like I've been ripped off when I pay full price for a CD and it only has 10 songs or 45 min. of music.

Ten good songs is enough. Fifteen songs and only ten good ones... is still just ten songs.

Exactly. Even if the song doesn't fit the "theme" or whatever the band is trying to portray.

I agree. I think you should cram as many songs as possible onto every cd.
