And what became my favorite pasttime when I was on vacation? You can notice from here and from other sites I frequent that I wasn’t online very much at all during vacation. My newest hobby is to sit out back at night, tending a fire in my firepit, and reading.

I have a firepit out back built around an old stump that I wasn’t able to get rid of any other way. So, I built a ring of stones around it, set fire on top of it, and burned the stump right to the ground.

The firepit endeavor was helped greatly when a rotten part of a large tree fell over out back during a hard rain a few weeks ago. My father-in-law came over and chopped the tree up, giving me plenty of wood for the weeks to come. Before, I only had fallen branches from the woods out back. Now, I can get a nice big, toasty fire going if/when I so desire.

My next step is to move the pit to the other stump out back and burn that puppy down, too. If I get time, I may do that this weekend.
