Project Complete

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I finished cleaning under the computer desk. It looks very neat and organized. Now the only official project that I haven’t completed is the one someone else is helping me with. I should find another project for this week, but I’ll probably skip that until next week.

Another Failed Project

Friday, October 10th, 2008

We are now planning on spending Saturday helping my father-in-law move instead of insulating and finishing the garage wall. There is no time for another project this week (trust me, I’ve seen my schedule). I have next week off. We’ll see what I can manage then.

POW: Garage/Living Room Wall

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I totally neglected last week’s project. I didn’t do a single thing to organize under the desk. That project will have to go back in queue. This coming Saturday, my father-in-law is supposed to be coming over to help me insulate and seal off a wall between my garage and my living room. Now the [...]

POW: Organize Under Desk

Monday, September 29th, 2008

In case you didn’t catch it, last week’s project is complete. Now that I can access underneath the desk, this week’s project is to organize the multiple boxes and various objects I have down there (various computer stuff). I also need to organize/sort through the boxes that were moved out of the corner to make [...]

POW: Back Room Corner

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Project of the Week: Clean out the corner of the back room, the computer room, in preparation of moving my filing cabinet out from under my second desk. I will thereby by able to get under the second desk to use it for storage. Essentially it’s just moving things around and getting some of the [...]

My Day in Belfast

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

(My wife’s having a clinical rotation in the hospital in Belfast. She asks me to go because she knows she’ll be tired on the drive back. Also she’s never driven there…she’s ridden there, but not driven…and it would be nice to have me to verify the route the first time while she drives. So I [...]

Continuing the Book List

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

I’ve read two books from the mysterious Book List, Sense & Sensibility and The Three Musketeers. Unfortunately, the next, oh…seven, books in my pile are not on the list (I have a little Crichton library). So, Chris will continue his romp over my paltry achievements. Way to go, Chris!

Sunshiny Day Off

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Here I am with a wonderful day off. The sun is shining, neighborhood dogs are barking, there might even be some birds at my feeder. Why do I have a Thursday off, you ask? Oh, just a little thing called…pneumonia. Stupid, dirty disease keeping me up all night and sending me to the urgent care [...]

Finished Miniature

Friday, August 15th, 2008

The first time I painted, it was a short session, relatively unproductive. Then I couldn’t get a good close up of the miniature. While I can now boast that the painting is complete, my picture is little to no better than before. Here’s the blurry image for you to make out what you may. Sufficed [...]

The Joys of Volunteering

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

This year I will be a professional information guru at the American Folk Festival! Want to know where the lame all-banjo band is playing today? I call tell you. I have a festival schedule! Yes, they are on hand in about a billion different locations, including that guy who was handing them out when you [...]

I’m Not Writing A Country Music Song

Friday, July 25th, 2008

But my dog died on Wednesday night. She was 12 years old. After a few month of not really eating and losing her pep, her organs shut down and she died at home in the evening. And I am a poor, weak excuse of a man because I received a phone call about an hour [...]

Canobie Lake Park

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Here’s the problem: My car’s AC is not working properly. I can’t explain it, but something is wrong. Well, maybe I could explain it, but I’m not going to take the time to unless someone asks me. Therefore, we drove 4 hours to the park in a sweltering hot car. The temperature had to be [...]

Staycation

Monday, July 7th, 2008

There can now be some debate as to whether it is cheaper to go away on vacation or to stay home. Here’s what we’ve spent so far: Paved Driveway: $1,850 Picture frame for my map: $230 Some stuff at Wal*Mart: $92 One night in a hotel in New Hampshire (later this week, but already paid [...]

More Domestic Musings

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I’ve neglected keeping up on domestic duties for too long now. Vacation is well over, and I need to see what I can do about re-tidying up.

For Those With More Domestic Tastes

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Tuesday night I bough new stereo speakers. That means the big, huge ones can come out of the living room. Then, I combined the stereo center with the phone stand. Now I have room for at least one, probably two more bookshelves in the living room. I love it. We might rearrange the living room [...]

Candle Party

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

On Monday, the wife will have a wonderful gathering of social misfits and other people you wouldn’t normally invite into your house (except you, of course). This is called a candle party. How do you prepare for a candle party, astute readers might ask. First the wife sends you outside. This performs two functions. One, [...]

Sugar Experiment

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

I’m currently trying to figure out why I’m so tired all the time. My normal sleeping hours are from 10 PM – 5 AM. However, I’ve been to bed earlier all week. Usually I’m able to get right out of bed in the morning with no problems. Lately, I wake up and have to force [...]

Today’s Family, Tomorrow’s Me

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

When I arrived home last night, there was a message on the answering machine. My father left a message stating that my nephew had died this past weekend. This message was from a father I never had while growing up. I didn’t really get to start my relationship with him until the year before I [...]

Follow My Banner, Typhoid Marys!

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Come, all ye who are feeling unwell, yet not bad off enough to stay home from work! Join me in rampaging over those who are not sick in any way! We’ll infect those closest to us, and, after the dizziness passes, we’ll spread out pre-disease thick through the rest of the building! Coughers! To my [...]
