Weather Obsession

Is tracking the weather a man thing? My father-in-law is always the weather expert, the security guards at work (3 men) track the weather all day, and even I’ve started a habit of checking the weather online at least once a day. I can’t think of any women I know that do the same thing. Want to enlighten me on this subject?

I check the weather all the time… it’s essential for planning anything around here. The only person I know who checks more than I do is my Mom! She’ll even send me weather update emails. (of course she taught earth science for a number of years including units on weather and weather tracking… so she kind of has a right to her interest… and to know what she’s talking about).
Weather Underground (www.wunderground.com) is the only place I’ve been able to find accurate Greenville weather - actually measure in Greenville. You have to go about it in a round-about way, though. If you type in your zip code for Greenville, they’ll give you the weather measured in Millinocket. But there’s this little link down the page somewhere for observations actually taken in Greenville. I’ve got that link bookmarked. Most other weather sites observe Greenville’s weather in either Dover-Foxcroft or Millinocket - both of which can have very different weather than us at any given time.

There. That proves my point that you really can’t gender-dize things. And also that an insanely small sampling never proved any theory.

Hmm… maybe Hannah and her mom are the exception? Not to many of the ladies I know really need to check the weather, thats what dads, boyfriends, husbands, brothers and that guy that gives me my coffee are for.

I could be wrong here - but I think it’s regionally effected. Pretty much all the women I know up here are weather-conscious. Again, my theory is it has to do with the fact that absolutely every event/outing is contingent on that day’s/hour’s/minute’s weather.
