“See Me Through”

Today’s post is a song I wrote. It is officially my eighth song.

I started out wanting to write about things that I know to be true, things that could not be argued. I was sitting in class alone, so that is where the beginning came from (no, nothing hangs on the walls in the class I was in). The song just took off on it’s own from there. By the time the second verse came about, I had changed the topic completely (so don’t think about the person in the beginning sitting in a classroom, think about them sitting in a deserted house). I then started to write, not as many do (about things they know about or have experienced), but about something I know nothing about. I could only try to place myself in that situation. Hopefully I succeeded.

See Me Through
The room is empty, the walls are laid bare.
Life just isn’t always…going to be fair
The boards, they creak beneath my feet.
I sit and stare from this lonely seat

My sigh it echoes through the air…

Of all the things I know and count as true
There’s nothing I can know as well as You
I have known Your grace
And mercy, too
Now I will trust that You’ll see me through

I don’t have the strength to make it alone.
What is this place since my true love is gone?
From the attic to basement, plans we had made.
Into the bedroom where she had oft laid

There is nothing here to make this place a home…

Of all the things I know and count as true
There’s nothing I can know as well as You
I have known Your grace
And mercy, too
Now I will trust that You’ll see me through

I can give all the emptiness to You
I can give the pain and the heartache, too
Into Your hands, Your hands, all I cannot do
I can only trust that You’ll see me through
