Fleece Vests

I don’t understand fleece vests. I don’t understand the concept of only covering the core of your body when you’re cold.

When I get cold, it starts from the head, the hands, and the feet. A vest only covers my torso, which isn’t what’s cold. I’d bet the torso isn’t what gets cold on others, either. That’s kind of the basis for how hypothermia works, first the ears, fingers, and toes. The body is slowly drawing its circulation inward to keep the essential organs warm. It leaves extremities and digits to fend for themselves.

For me, I’d like to have just the arms. We have just the vests; where are the arms? Are they hanging out in an obscure warehouse somewhere, playing poker with all the erasers from all the mini-golf pencils?

Stupid fleece vests.

  1. Why the sudden rampage against fleece vests?

  2. Roger says:

Wow. You consider this a rampage?

I’ve been wearing mine the last few days.

Vests are cultural phenomena that were spawned by the sleeve shortage of the late 1940s. We were sending so many sleeves overseas to our troops that people at home had to do without. Now that is real patriotism. Stupid kids ruined the whole thing though. They turned it into a fashion statement. And that is why I am against kids in general.

  4. Roger says:

That’s sound reasoning. You have me convinced.

  5. ted says:

    Reasoning indeed.

  6. Scoob says:

Don’t forget the resurgence of the trend with movies such as Easy Rider and the Warriors, where the vests where worn with out any other bodily clothing.

  7. Roger says:

Scoob…I have no idea what you’re talking about…

(I guess I’ll have to research.)

  8. Scoob says:

I should amend my comment to state leather vests, and that while I say “with out any bodily clothing” I mean under the vests, they did wear pants in those movies.

  9. Roger says:

    Now you’re getting off topic.
